VIDEO: Fabolous, Juelz Santana, Lloyd Banks @ Hammerstein Ballroom show with Nicki Minaj

Here's a clip of the performance from tonite's thanksgiving show with Fabolous. This is actually two songs, one featuring Lloyd Banks and another featuring Lloyd Banks and Juelz Santana. The band tore it down led by DJ 4our 5ive. Apologies for the massive feedback compliments of the sound man that most likely will not have a job after tonite(apologies to him too)

Enjoy.

VIDEO: Fabolous Rehearsal

Hey all. Here's a video of yesterday's rehearsal at SIR for the Fabolous show on thanksgiving. Excited to be performing at Hammerstein ballroom for the first time. Sad I will have to miss family and friends on this holiday but I will do my best to make it up to everyone! Enjoy

VIDEO: PIRAHNA "Superstar" Produced by DanTheBand

Hey all. Here's a song I did with the up and coming artist "Pirahna". Looking forward to working on some more music and letting ya'll hear it.

VIDEO: Fabolous @ HOT 97's Summer Jam

I never attended a Summer Jam when I was younger but I know I wanted to. For years the party was KUBE 93's summer Jam at the Gorge in George, near my hometown of Seattle. It always had such a crazy lineup of artists and I was jealous when my cousin went and I wasn't allowed to!

Well I finally attended a Summer Jam concert, though not from the audience. It was crazy 60,000 screaming fans at the New Meadowlands Stadium(The future home of the New York Giants). The band sounded great and so did Fab. This show was a blast! I hope you enjoy the video. You can catch a glimpse of me toward the very end of this video.

Video: Shontelle on Good Day New York

Hey everyone! It's been way too long since the last post. I've been doing so much running around lately it's hard to get on here and post links/videos etc. Here is a great one of me from this morning on Fox 5's Good Day New York performing the song "Impossible" with the artist Shontelle.

Although you can't hear me well, I am playing exactly what's on the record. Looking forward to doing more performances with her in the future.

Enjoy!

Video: Performance with Fabolous @ Club Amazura

Hey everybody! Long time since I last posted a video. This was shot a couple weeks ago at Club Amazura in Jamaica Queens. It was a decent show, but you can see the sheer amount of people on stage at the show.

It got crazy and I was having to move people who were getting in the way while I was trying to play! There is some nice footage of me up at the front of the video.

Lastly, I would like to recognize MC GBaby who was shot and killed outside the club following the performance. My condolences to the family and friends.

Video: Fabolous - Throw it in the Bag Remix @ Fillmore NYC

In honor of Fab being on the George Lopez show last night and our upcoming show in NYC Feb 13th I decided to post a Fab vid.

This was in my opinion one of the best shows I played with the band. I know Fab was happy cause he was pouring drinks for everyone backstage after the show.

On this show we also ended up backing Ryan Leslie to open the show. I wish there was some video footage of that somewhere. There's a solid bit with him and I playing the keys at the end of his song Diamond Girl. I'm sure it will turn up at some point or another.

This featured DJ 45, Derrick Wright on Drums, Chelton Grey on bass and David Daniels on Guitar, and of course myself!

Video: Mark Shine - Guns, Germs and Religion @ Blue Note NYC

Here's todays vid! It was a great time at the Blue Note late night groove series in the summer of 09.

This song Mark and I wrote together with Jet. It features Charles Norris III(aka Trey aka Embryo on drums) and Abdul Zhurri on guitar.

A little secret about this video. The kick drum wasn't mic'd for the entire gig. The kick you hear I played in pro tools after the fact so we could have a usable video!

Thanks to our frrrriend Dario Formica for the video.

Video: Fabolous - Can't Let U Go @ House of Blues Boston, MA

In honor of Fab receiving a Grammy nomination I thought I'd post this video of the Fab and the band from the show in Boston. I can't find anyone who has a live vid of the song that was nominated. This show was crazy 2000 screaming fans, I definitely enjoyed myself.

This song is a nice feature for Eugene on guitar.

Video: Me @ DJ Riders Thursday Jam in Oceanside

I go down to this jam whenever I can, which usually is about once or twice a month. I think we're playing Mr. PC. That bad dude on the drums is none other than Derrick Wright. Bill Titus is on guitar behind me, I think it's Dave Pellegrino on bass and Chris Laybourne is on sax.

DJ Riders can be great...this night was particularly great(even if nobody bothers to follow my substitutions).

Video: Soulfarm, Moshav, Matisyahu - Too Late pt 2

Thursday, January 28th I will be performing with Soulfarm at a Haiti benefit taking place Stephen Wise Free Synagogue (30 West 68th Street @ CPW) at 7:00PM.

I'm very pleased to be a part of this benefit. To promote this event I will be posting Soulfarm videos today and tomorrow.

If you can't afford to give, please volunteer in the efforts to fundraise. If you don't have time to volunteer then you're making enough money to give to the efforts.

Check out part 2 of the Soulfarm, Moshav, Matisyahu @ BB Kings video. C starts of by shredding a nice extended guitar solo. Then Matis rips after that!

Video: Soulfarm, Moshav, Matisyahu - Too Late

Before I introduce the video, I'd like to give everyone a little backstory of my involvement with the band.

I met C in Tel Aviv, Israel in the Summer of 2008. Andrew and I were on a tour with a band called the Humble Kings performing for the soldiers of the Israeli Defense Force(an interesting story which I'll save for the Humble Kings video posting coming soon).

From there C asked me to play on the new Soulfarm record. At the time it was nearly finished but he had a track that he specifically wanted piano on. The track was Monkey Dance, from the album of the same name. I take a nice long McCoy Tyner-esque solo on that track. Initially I thought it was a bit too far out, but C loved it.

This video is from the annual Christmas Eve Show at BB Kings. I believe this was my first show with Soulfarm. What a show! Soulfarm and Moshav headlined the show and it featured special guest Matisyahu. This is the track Too Late from Moshav's EP Dangerous World. Naturally I'd never heard the song in my life, so if you hear any mistakes...I'd like to see you do better!

Video: Santessa - I Be Me

This was one of the first bands I joined after graduating college. The video is one of the last shows the band did together.

Santessa has one of the best sounding albums I've heard. The production both vocally and musically is so well done. Sonically it's in a league of its own.

We did a lot of writing as a band, and I did a lot of growing as both a writer and performer with this group. Many a rehearsal night was spent underneath the Max Fish bar in the LES. Sometimes after rehearsal was spent at Max Fish.

If you can still find a copy of Santessa's Delirium do yourself a favor and BUY IT!

I'm very happy to report that I'm still working with some of the band members, Writing with Dan Laureano(Wavetable Music), and playing with Ben Bynum in Nellie McKay's Aristocrats band.

Video: Emergency Service - Do the Damn Thing

We'll we finished up the tour last night performing in Hartford CT at Sully's Pub. A young band by the name of the McLovin's went on after us, what a band. They've got a 15 year old guitar player who can REALLY shred and looks just like McLovin!

Emergency Service had a great show there last night. It's a small room but always high energy.

Today as the Colts and Vikings look to advance to the super bowl(those are my picks), Emergency Service will be in the studio recording a new song. Enjoy this last video in the Emergency Service series.

Video: Emergency Service - When Things Are Over

Good morning all...For some reason the hotel clock says it's 9:24am...perhaps its set to Pacific Time, nevertheless it's time to update the blog for today.

We had a great show last night at Johnny D's in Boston, MA. Black River Sound was the co-headliner and they sounded great, we really need to do a small tour with that band. It would be the perfect blend of 2 bands that have a similar sound with a very different front line.

The video is from a show at Canal Room in NYC that also featured Black River Sound. To see more about them check http://blackriversound.com/index.html

Video: Emergency Service - Cryin

Just finished the show at Bitter End tonite. It went well, but tomorrow is gonna be even better. Also had a recording session today with Sam preparing for our band recording on Sunday.

Well this song I think got removed from the set on this tour...But it's all good. We'll bring it back when you least expect it. Chris plays some nice stuff on trumpet. I have a nice solo toward the end of the song.

Video: Emergency Service - Takes Me Back

Since we're doing a short tour, I'm gonna try to post only Emergency Service videos for the next few days. We end our tour with a recording session on Sunday so until then the DanTheBand blog will be all ES.

Hope you enjoy. If anyone has any tips on how to make this blog better please let me know! I would love to know who's reading.

Video: Emergency Service - Bitter End

Here's a clip of our residency at Bitter End, showcasing some of the special guests we had sit in with us. My favorite of course was having Derrick there playing drums...but Alex and Marko sounded great too.

We're about to go on a short little tour beginning tomorrow night at the Bitter End in NYC, and ending at Sully's Pub in Hartford on Saturday. Enjoy the video.

Video: Speed of Life - Caught Inside

My tenure with Speed of Life was essential to my development as a keyboard player. John Zay and I spent many hours programming sounds and figuring out how the hell we were gonna get every sound from the record on the keyboards.

Although I'm not performing with the band regularly it looks as though we will be recording together soon. Zay and I wrote a new song in his visit here recently. Stay tuned there will likely be a performance with Speed of Life here in NYC in the next month or so.

This video features John Zay on guitar and lead vocals, Tobias Ralph on drums, Nicholas D'Amato on bass and myself on keys and backing vox. It was the last show of my 3rd tour with the band. Some exceptional drumming is featured on this video as well...Enjoy(Congrats to Tobias for landing the Lauryn Hill gig recently. They're headlining a show in New Zealand).

Video: Fabolous - Imma Do It Live Fillmore NYC

This is a video from our concert at the Fillmore in NYC in December of 09. I love moments like these on stage. The DJ accidently cut the song short by 1 verse. You can watch when the whole beat drops out and Fab is going a capella for a phrase or two. The band realizes whats going on quickly and reacts and keeps playing the song. You can't go wrong when you've got Derrick Wright on the gig(one of the best drummers in the world)!

At the next rehearsal Fab suggest that we play the song that way from now on. It was one of those happy accidents.

Video: Emergency Service - The Fire

Emergency Service is about to go back into the studio to finish up recording of this track. It will feature production by yours truly.

The band is Sammy G, Ed "Aureliam" Matos, Chris Norton, George Oberndorfer, myself and featured Ben Bynum on drums at this show.

I believe this was the same gig where I busted one of the keys on the triton right before I needed to leave town for Jamaica Jazz and Blues with Mark Shine. We had to rush the repair job but it did get fixed in time. This job is never as easy or glamorous as it seems.

Look for the studio version of the track in early 2010. Enjoy!

HAITI! Video: Inna Vibe feat. Mark Shine - Imma Just Be Me

In response to the earthquake in Haiti I will be posting a video that doesn't include me in it. I didn't produce the track nor am I involved with the song directly. However the video was filmed in Port-au-Prince last year. Besides being a great song and great video, it's a glimpse into what it was like in Haiti before the devastation. Please send your well wishes to Kobby from Inna Vibe, he is Haitian and has a lot of family living in Port-au-Prince. I have done some production with Inna Vibe and Mark Shine on 2 other songs that will hopefully be released soon.

Enjoy the video and help in whatever way you can. I would love to be involved in a benefit concert if anyone need a keyboardist, musical director, or producer. Please text Yele to 501501 to donate $5 to the Yele Haiti Foundation. They will charge $5 to your phone bill.

Video: Fabolous @ Santos

This was my first show with Fab back in August of last year. Needless to say it was tough, I was asked to learn all the music for the show on the same day of the gig. I had to find sounds on the keyboards too...We played about 27 songs that night. It ranks up there as one of the tougher things I've been asked to do in my musical career. Enjoy....I have some big news to announce shortly.

Official Blog Launch!

I've officially launched my blog. Finally there will be a place to check out videos, hear some of the music I play live and in the studio, and a place where you can find out where the hell I am at any given moment(almost!).

As a celebration of my launch...For 2 months STRAIGHT! I will be uploading 1 video per day with performances/rehearsals/studio sessions with artists and musicians I work with. I've already uploaded one video of the BET 106 & Park tour with rapper Fabolous.

Video: Fabolous - Breathe, House of Blues Boston, MA

Some video of the opening night of the 106 & Park tour with Fabolous. This is me performing Breathe, nice shots of Eugene in there too.
